upscaling Supply Chains
Michiel is an economist with extensive supply chain management, organizing the flow of products and information. His international career has been in Start-up, Scale-up and Corporate environments where he developed his skills in managing high-pace supply chains
As a Supply & Demand Analyst at the Japanese multinational Ricoh, he forecasted demand, planned supply and managed inventory on behalf of the Europe Operating Companies. It learned him everything on balancing supply & demand, negotiations with factories and working with all supply chain stakeholders.
At Picnic, a supermarket without stores, he played a crucial role in expanding our operations by adding and growing supplier relationships and assortments, successfully scaling from 2 to 5 warehouses. This gave him deep insights into the complexities of rapid growth and supply chain optimization.
To expand his horizon and to do good, he has worked as a supply chain manager for the NGO Doctors Without Borders where he managed operations in three different regions. Amongst others, he has led responses to disease outbreaks (Cholera, Covid-19). This role further developed his capabilities in supply chain management and leading teams under challenging and dynamic conditions.
His passion is in seeing the real-world impact of optimized supply chains and contributing to the success of the companies he works with.
